What is a plastic moldPlastic mold, also known as injection mold, is a device for producing (often in large quantities) plastic parts or products with the cavity (one or more) formed by assembly and the required shape of molded products. Plastic mold is a tool matched with plastic molding machine in plastic processing industry to give plastic products complete configuration and accurate size. The cavity of a plastic mold is composed of a female mold part called a mold cavity and a male mold part called a mold core. The plastic mold is installed on the injection molding machine and fills the mold cavity in the following chronological order (usually automatically): 1. Mold closing; 2. Inject (hot, almost flowing) plastic into the mold cavity; 3. Keep the mold closed until the plastic is cooled to be ejected; 4. Mold opening; 5. Eject plastic products; 6. If necessary, the injection molding machine can extend the mold opening (MO) time and prepare for the next cycle. |
